Paste Flux Glossary

Here at All Things Brazing, we sell Gasflux paste flux known for high quality and excellent finish. To help differentiate between the pastes we carry, below is a description of each flux plus their typical use:

Type B (Blue) Bronze Brazing Paste Flux: A non-corrosive high temperature paste flux specially formulated to work with bronze and nickel silver rods for fillet and capillary brazing. Works well with GF-78 Low Fuming Bronze, GF-72 Nickel Silver, and C-04® Nickel Bronze. Recommended for base metals of mild steels. Conforms to AWS FB3-D. 

Type U (White) Silver Brazing Paste Flux: A universal paste flux formulated to work with all silver and copper-silver-phosphorus brazing rod and wire for both fillet and capillary brazing. Works well with AG-45%, AG-50%, and AG-56%.  Recommended for copper, brass, and steel base metals. Conforms to AWS FB3-A. 

Type H (Black) Silver Brazing Paste Flux: A non-boric acid, non-corrosive high temperature formulated paste flux to work with all silver brazing rods and wires for fillet and capillary brazing. Works well with AG-45%, AG-50%, and AG-56%. Recommended for high temperature applications with base metals of mild steels and stainless steels but can be used with copper and brass. Conforms to AWS FB3-C. 

Type G (White) Silver Brazing Paste Flux: A universal paste flux specially formulated to work with all silvers and has an extended heat cycle. A good substitute for black paste flux where post-braze cleanup is a concern. Works well with AG-45%, AG-50%, and AG-56%. Recommended for base metals of mild steels, stainless steels as well as copper and brass. Conforms to AWS FB3-C. 

Type Bg-1 (White) Bronze & Nickel Silver Brazing Powder Flux: A non-corrosive high temperature powder flux specially formulated to work with bronze and nickel silver brazing rods. Works well with GF-78 Low Fuming Bronze, GF-72 Nickel Silver, and C-04® Nickel Bronze. Can be pre-place or used as a rod dipping flux. Recommended for steel and carbide base metals. Conforms to AWS FB3-J.
